Ibuguziwa Bridge

Until 1991 the only way across the river into Ruaha National Park was using a small ferry.

The bridge that we now drive over at Ibuguziwa into the Park was constructed in 1991 and finished in November of that year.

The actual bridge structure has much history to it, and originally spanned the Great Ruaha river further down stream at Mtera. Following the construction of Mtera Dam, the bridge was moved to Ruaha National Park to replace the ferry system that operated at that time.
